We are supporting the National Memory Screening Day (NMSD)

We are supporting the National Memory Screening Day (NMSD), an
annual initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) in which
qualified health care professionals at local sites nationwide provide free,
confidential memory screenings and educational materials to the public. NMSD is
also intended to educate the public about “successful aging,” including the
benefits of proper diet, physical exercise, mental stimulation, and stress
management.

Last year, over 96,500 people participated in NMSD at over 2,540
sites nationwide. This is a 12 percent growth over the previous year’s
participation, and demonstrates the growing public awareness of the value of
early detection and intervention for memory problems. In addition, the AFA is
increasingly using NMSD as a jumping-off point to start and continue dialogue
with leaders in Congress and other policymakers about developing a national
dementia screening policy and the importance of early detection.

Successful aging also includes making sure the proper legal
documents are in place in the event you are unable to care for yourself. At the
Law Office of David Wingate we are well equipped to assist families whose loved
ones could be experiencing memory problems, or need advice on caregiving issues
and long-term care planning.

We have long advocated for the rights of seniors and people with
disability and we are proud to support the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s
National Memory Screening Day.

Our support of National Memory Screening Day is consistent with
the essential role that we play in helping the families of individuals with
memory problems to maintain the quality of life of their loved ones. Just as
early detection and intervention of memory problems is critical, so is early
planning with a qualified attorney to ensure that family members with memory
problems receive quality help and care in ways that do not bankrupt the family.
