Social Security Benefits to Rise 1.7 Percent for 2015

Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will increase 1.7 percent in 2015 to adjust for the cost of living. Based on that increase, the maximum amount of earnings subject to the Social Security payroll tax will go from $117,000 to $118,500. See press release.
