Caring for aging parents is a concern no matter where they live in another state or close by.

Talk with your parents. Understand their requirements, needs and try to be involved in your parents’ life.

Communications network with their friends, neighbors, clergy, doctors, etc. Exchange phone numbers and have a trusted friend or close-by relative have a key to their home.

Discuss what income is available and how it is generated. Determine what assets exist, how they are titled and which can be utilized, for future living expenses.

Review medical insurance coverage i.e. Medicare, Tricare (VA Benefits), Medigap Insurance. Medicare Part D (prescription drug benefit)
